This article is an introduction to the creative research process « (His)tories of Infamous Women» (thesis project presented at the Masters in Literature, UPTC), which explores the topic of infamy, through the writing of imaginary biographies of peasant women from the beginning of the XXc in San Gil and Socorro, Santander. This project uses the literary phenomenon to question the way in which history has been told from a male view point. For this reason, this article reveals the importance of the voice of the infamous subjects in literature and examines the construction of memory in a culture, in the company of authors who have explored this topic in different moments.
