GARZON MARTINEZ, María Teresa. When love is born at the edge of the map. Miscegenation in No give up, maan! No te rindas!. La Palabra [online]. 2015, n.26, pp.31-44. ISSN 0121-8530.

The following reflection article analyzes the version of miscegenation represented in the novel No give up, maan! ¡No te rindas!, by the writer Hazel Robinson Abrahams. In this article, it is shown that this version of miscegenation corresponds to the version of this process originated in the XIX century in Colombia, which constitutes an elite vision where mixedness is desired as trope of the nation, but repudiated as a mixing of the bodies, which turns out to be whitening strategy in the long run. Besides, this article points to the way in which the plot of the novel also questions this version of miscegenation, suggesting its forgetfulness, dark sides, violences, racism and the possibility of narrating a different, subaltern version.
