Parental attitudes towards parenting affect the manifestation of emotional and behavioral problems in the first years of a child's life. The objective of this study is to examine the association between parental attitudes towards parenting, emotional problems, and behavioral problems in children from 2 to 5 years of age from Sincelejo, Colombia. It is a quantitative approach. In total 183 caregivers were intentionally selected. Participants fulfilled: a sociodemographic questionnaire, a parental attitudes questionnaire and a child behavior checklist. In the results it was evidenced that sleep problems appeared in a negative relationship with discipline and commitment, this means that the less discipline and commitment, the more sleep problems. And with respect to externalized problems, it was found that attention problems, oppositional problems and aggressive behavior were related to little discipline and commitment. The results found allow us to reflect on the importance of discipline and commitment in the upbringing of children in early childhood.
