SARRAZIN, Jean Paul. Implicit Transcendence and Sacredness in the Secular Language. Folios [online]. 2021, n.54, pp.61-74.  Epub 14-Jan-2022. ISSN 0123-4870.  https://doi.org/10.17227/folios.54-12594.

Focusing on the debate regarding the transformations and the future of religion in a "secular age", this research article analyzes expressions of religiosity in the languages conventionally considered to be secular. The investigation followed a qualitative methodology focused on unstructured, open and in-depth interviews carried out with a group of students. The results show that, according to the interviews, the most important things in life are "family" and their "own goals", two concepts that are related to ultímate values which compose an implicit religiosity in late modernity. It is concluded that this religiosity is manifested through the sacredness of the self and the transcendence of progress, notions that must be understood within the framework of general, late-modern processes, such as deinstitutionalization, individualization and reflexive modernization.

Palavras-chave : sacredness; individualization; secularity; sociology of religion; late modernity.
