LEDEZMA-RENTERIA, EVA DOLORES  e  GALEANO, GLORIA. Uses of palms in the Pacific lowlands of Colombia. Caldasia [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.1, pp.71-84. ISSN 0366-5232.  https://doi.org/10.15446/caldasia.v36n1.43892.

To evaluate current knowledge on the uses of palms in the Colombian Pacific, all sources of information on palm uses in this region were studied. There were 90 different uses for 52 useful palm species, meaning that 61% of the total number of palms in the Pacific region had some kind of use. The uses were grouped into eight categories and 30 subcategories of use. Most species are used for construction, tools, and utensils and human food. The species with the highest number of uses were Bactris gasipaes, Astrocaryum standleyanum, Oenocarpus bataua, Euterpe oleraceae, Oenocarpus minor, Cocos nucifera, Attalea cuatrecasana, Iriartea deltoidea, Desmoncus cirrhifer and Wettinia quinaria.
