In this advance of the taxonomic revision of the genus Quararibea (Malvaceae), a new species known only from the cloud forests of the region of Ngabe-Buglé, in the Central Cordillera of Panama, is described. Its morphology and distribution are compared and commented to those of Quararibea santaritensis, Q. yunckeri, Q. cryptantha, Q. nigrescens and other species from Central and South America, here considered related. A key to identify the commented species and a list of their revised collections is also provided.
