BLANCO-ECHEVERRY, María del Pilar. “Gender ideology” in Mexico, Colombia and Spain: emergence or consolidation?. Rev. eleuthera [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.1, pp.249-267.  Epub 23-Ago-2023. ISSN 2011-4532.  https://doi.org/10.17151/eleu.2022.24.1.13.

Objective.

To reconstruct the general panorama of “gender ideology” in three countries that echo the international agenda for equality but that during the years 2016 - 2018 experienced the emergence of discourses by groups called “pro-life”, “Pro-family”, representing new forms of resistance to sex education, women’s sexual and reproductive rights and everything related to the LGBTIQ community.

Methodology and results.

With the thematic review concepts were identified, background, individual and collective actors that deploy strategies and networks to contradict any progress related to equality and strengthen the “gender ideology” in those countries.

Conclusion.

This “ideology” was projected as an effective communicative and persuasive tool, used by the Catholic Church, conservative political parties and consistent social movements that try to legitimize undemocratic, exclusive and discriminatory powers that violate sexual diversity and human rights.

Palavras-chave : Gender; ideology; sexual diversity; sexual and reproductive rights.
