REINA-RIVAS, Juan Jacinto; AZUM-GONZALES, José Luis; BARCIA ANCHUNDIA, Johnny Xavier  e  MENDIETA MENDIETA, José Darwin. Use of ensiled cassava (Manihot Esculenta Crantz) as an alternative in the bait of pigs. rev. colombiana cienc. anim. Recia [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, 02.  Epub 02-Mar-2023. Creating alternatives in feeding pigs is currently the best option to reduce production costs, cassava is the most used worldwide for its nutritional value, it is for this reason that this research aims to evaluate the productive results and economic in the initial and final fattening stages of pigs reared in the Canuto Parish of Chone Canton with the substitution of 20, 30 and 40% of corn and commercial balance for cassava silage. The investigation lasted six months, it began from day 40 with the beginning of fattening and ended at 160 days, 20 hybrid pigs of the Belgian Landrace and Pietrain breeds were used, weighing 25 kg each, distributed randomized into 4 groups equal in weight, sex and age with 5 replicates each; the variables were: average feed consumption (daily and total), average weight gain (daily and total), feed conversion, feed costs and determination of fat in the dorsal longissimus. A one-factor analysis of variance model, IBM SPSS version 20, was applied. The results obtained did not show significant differences. In the determination of the thickness of the dorsal fat, differences were found (p<0.05), being better in all the TY3 analyses. The economic analysis favors the TY3 treatment. Cassava silage can partially replace corn throughout the pig fattening cycle without affecting production results and reducing costs, especially at the end of fattening.
