DE MARCO, Celeste. Childhood, Community and Press in the Interior of the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina, 1950-1960). Historelo.rev.hist.reg.local [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.25, pp.14-52. ISSN 2145-132X. https://doi.org/10.15446/historelo.v12n25.85105.
This article stems from the concern of investigating from a historical perspective those childhoods that took place in spaces far away from large and capital cities, affected by different realities, dynamics, and daily life situations. In that regard, it aims at analyzing how issues related to childhood were addressed by the press of non-central rural towns in the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina). We take the case of El Imparcial newspaper, from General Belgrano (Buenos Aires) during the 1950s - 1960s, a time marked by the continued existence of traditional aspects in both family and social life, and also in the productive sphere, as well as by modernizing advances within the framework of a small community. It starts from a qualitative methodological approach, through a content analysis strategy, to identify underlying representations, recurrent topics, and attention cycles. Finally, it discloses a child-focused discourse with moralizing views that used to polarize and impose a hierarchy on the children's universe, whose topics also worked as a point of consensus within the community.
