VALENCIA, Mauricio Hernando  e  OSORIO, José Henry. Characterization of cinematic variables in human gait by a computerized system for capturing subaquatic images: knee angular parameters. rev.fac.med. [online]. 2014, vol.62, n.1, pp.71-79. ISSN 0120-0011.  https://doi.org/10.15446/revfacmed.v62n1.43736.

Background. The implementation of water therapies, performed in several rehabilitation centers in the national and international environment, requires a measurement system. Objective. To validate the possibility of quantitation of kinematic variables of human gait, in healthy individuals, using video-photogrammetry as a computerized system for capturing subaquatic images with sagittal plane registration. Materials and methods. By the use of a robotic system (made of a chain and mobile platform system on the floor of gait tank, which adjust the final position of sub-aquatic camera), it was performed gait analysis and calculi of joint angles in aquatic environment of four voluntary persons. Results. The filtrated flexion angle of knee during the rocking phase in the sub-aquatic gait cycle is higher in masculine gender (52.2±9.7) than in the feminine one (45.6±7.0). The filtrated flexion angle of knee during the stance phase, in the subaquatic gait cycle is higher in masculine gender (1.6±1.5) than in the feminine one (0.1±0.01). Conclusions. It is possible to quantify the kinematic variables of human gait (knee angular parameters), in healthy individuals, using video-photogrammetry as a computerized system for capturing subaquatic images in the gait tank.
