ALBORNOZ, María Belén. Biotechnology and its Paradox of Good Living. univ.humanist. [online]. 2013, n.76, pp.235-251. ISSN 0120-4807.
This article aims to describe how biotechnology becomes an obligatory passage point in the new Ecuadorian development model and how this helps to give meaning to the notion of good living that governs political rhetoric. Using Actor-Network Theory, we intend to show the distances that are maintained between political discourse and practices of biotechnology that are carried out in the country. It is of particular interest to make visible the controversies that arise between the duty of biotechnology -seen as a response to local problems and close to good living and the Pacha Mama-, and planning committed to science and technology transfer through models such as those proposed by South Korea with their knowledge cities.
