This article characterises the commercial airline transport market in Colombia and then develops a reputation model describing the relationship between airlines and consumers. Grossman and Hart’s pioneering work (1986) is thus used for modelling horizontal integration between firms and is then directly applied to the case of Alianza Summa. The results and possible implications of the Alianza Summa case for society are then considered.
