IRIZAR, Liliana Beatriz e GONZALEZ-CAMARGO, Javier Nicolás. Civic Humanism and the Mass Media: Towards the Media Hermeneutics of Hope. Palabra Clave [online]. 2008, vol.11, n.2, pp.179-198. ISSN 0122-8285.
There is a proposal in political philosophy known as civic humanism. This socio-political model, with definite Aristotelian roots, was rehabilitated recently by the Spanish philosopher Alejandro Llano. Civic humanism invites us to rethink democracy from the standpoint of genuinely human parameters, inasmuch as its thinking is centered on the person and his/her essential dignity As part of this proposal, the role of the mass media in humanizing social-political life is considered crucial. A rigorous education for experts in communication is required to make this possible. They must be trained to help transmit information based on what is referred to in this article as the hermeneutics of hope.
