ZAMBRANO-GONZALEZ, Giselle e ORTIZ-ORDONEZ, Guido Fernando. LEPIDOPTERA DIVERSITY IN THREE LOCATIONS OF THE MUNCHIQUE-PINCHE BIOLOGICAL AND MULTICULTURAL CORRIDOR, CAUCA, COLOMBIA. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.1, pp.214-224. ISSN 0123-3068.
This study intends to carry out an analysis on the diversity, similarity and complementarity of a day-butterfly community in the Munchique-Pinche Biological Corridor, located in the Department of Cauca. The altitudinal variation of the three areas inside the corridor was considered implementing an altitudinal gradient distributed from 1500 to 3300 m. The capturing methods used were entomological nets and Van Someren-Rydon traps. They registered 111 species of 57 genera and 5 families in 881 captures. The record for the most diversity was for the gradient located in the interval 1500 to 2000 m, corresponding to the best conserved area and the one with lesser anthropic intervention. Within the Corridor, a decrease in diversity related to the altitude was observed; and considering the complementarity and similarity values, it was concluded that there is an exclusivity of species for each site and that its distribution is determined by the height, as well as by the availability of food.
