CORDOBA, Diego Fernando e GIRALDO, Alan. FISH ASSEMBLAGE IN FRESHWATER STREAMS OF ISLA PALMA, BAHIA MALAGA, COLOMBIAN PACIFIC. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.2, pp.111-124. ISSN 0123-3068.
A study of the fish assemblage in freshwater streams of Isla Palma, located at Bahía Málaga, Colombian Pacific, was conducted. Freshwater streams of this island are second grade and fueled by from the rains that are common in the area for the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), allowing a constant flow of water that support life of aquatic organisms. the fishing sampling was performed using the electric fishing method. The fishing zones in each stream were 100 linear meter of enclosed channel using catch and bloking nets. A total of 70 individuals were captured with representatives of four orders: Characiformes, Cyprinodontiformes, and Perciformes Synbranchiformes, five families: Lebiasinidae, Poeciliidae, Synbranchidae, Eleotridae and Gobiidae, eight genera and eight species: Lebiasina multimaculata, Priapichthys sp., Synbranchus marmoratus, Dormitator latifrons, Eleo trispicta, Gobiomorus maculatus, Hemieleotris latifasciata and Awaous banana. Of the species recorded Lebiasina multimaculata and Priapichthys sp. are considered primary and endemic to the region.
