RIVAS, Lucellis Maria; GARCIA, Jhon Brayan e RENGIFO, Jhon Tailor. DIETARY COMPOSITION OF TWO SPECIES OF THE GENRE Andinobates (Anura: Dendrobatidae) IN THE TROPICAL PLUVIAL FOREST IN THE CHOCÓ DEPARTMENT, COLOMBIA. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.1, pp.85-97. ISSN 0123-3068. https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2019.23.1.5.
Objectives:
To determine the dietary composition of Andinobates in tropical rain forest areas in the Department of Chocó, Colombia, to increase the knowledge of dendrobatids in the Colombian Pacific region.
Methodology:
The visual encounter survey method (VES) was used. In addition, the relative importance index, the hierarchy index, and the trophic diversity were calculated.
Results:
a total of 140 individuals divided into two phylum, three classes and five orders were identified according to the taxonomic nomenclature, being the Hymenoptera the most abundant order for the two species. On the other hand, no more trophic novelties were predicted.
Conclusions:
the indexes allow inferring that the species studied consume a wide variety of invertebrates, therefore these species can be specialists or generalists.
