AVELLANEDA-CADENA, Carolina  e  BETANCUR, Julio. THE VASCULAR PLANTS OF THE CLIFF SYSTEMS OF SUESCA, EASTERN COLOMBIAN ANDES. Actu Biol [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.86, pp.25-39. ISSN 0304-3584.

The vascular plants of three different cliff systems at 2.800-3.000 m elevation, in Suesca, Colombian department of Cundinamarca, were studied. The cliff systems are called 'Valle de Los Halcones' (VH), 'Farallones de Suesca' (FS) and 'Los Monolitos' (LM). For every plant, we registered information about the surface over which they grew (plate, ledger or crack) and their growth form (erect, pendulous or parallel to the surface). We found 101 species, 79 genera and 39 families. The most rich families were Asteraceae and Orchidaceae, each one with 9 species, followed by Poaceae (8), Polypodiaceae (8) and Bromeliaceae (7). The most specious genera were Tillandsia and Polypodium, each one with 5 species, followed by Epidendrum (3) and Elaphoglossum (3). Places with most richness of species p were VH and FS, with 74 and 75 species respectively. At LM the families with more species were Asteraceae (8) and Poaceae (5), at FS Asteraceae (8) and Poaceae (7), and at VH Asteraceae (9) and Orchidaceae (7). At VH and FS the surface with most richness of species was the plate, whereas at LM was the ledger. Most of the species at every place were erect, followed by those parallel to the surface.. The three places exhibited high floristic similitude.
