TRAMONTINA, Priscilla Cibele et al. Care management for stomized patients and the health-care network. Rev Cuid [online]. 2019, vol.10, n.1, e613.  Epub 04-Nov-2019. ISSN 2216-0973.  https://doi.org/10.15649/cuidarte.v10i1.613.

Introduction

This study aimed to understand the care management for stomized patients from the perspective of the health-care network.

Materials and Methods

This is a qualitative study with methodological reference to the Data-Based Theory. 18 health-related professionals and managers participated at municipal and state levels. Three sample groups were created for data collection through a semi-structured interview.

Results

The analysis generated 5 categories that together formed the theoretical model: “Developing care management for stomized patients from the health-care network perspective.” Developing care management for stomized patients; knowing stomized patients during their adaptation period through professional practice; caring for stomized patients as an integral part of the work process in primary and secondary healthcare; caring for stomized patients through the healthcare network and characterizing the role of healthcare points in the care of stomized patients.

Discussion

The healthcare network should have teams trained in the care of stomized patients in primary care and specialized teams in secondary and tertiary care, which are of reference. A network is strengthened due to the various actions and services that make it up, providing care management for any health condition, including stomized patients.

Conclusions

The formulated theoretical model considers that a strengthened healthcare network, in terms of the variety of actions and services, will provide better care management for stomized patients.
