ASTUDILLO, Carola; RIVAROSA, Alcira  e  ADURIZ-BRAVO, Agustín. Biological Evolution and Meta-Scientific Reflection. Contributions for Teacher Training of Science Teachers. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2018, n.43, pp.91-116. ISSN 0121-3814.

This research paper bases the integration of meta-scientific reflection in the disciplinary and didactic training of science teachers and its contextualization on structuring notions of biology. More specifically, the reflections are centered on the notion of biological evolution, selected for its high explanatory and supporting power of the discipline, as well as for its strong cultural impregnation. Moreover, and aiming to approach potential contents to carry out the aforementioned integration, we present the results of a series of interviews with biologists, biology teachers, didacts, philosophers, and science communicators. Specialists, from their own disciplines, contribute to the epistemic, cultural and cognitive characterization of the notion. This characterization, contextualized in the discussion about the popular icons through which the notion of evolution and Charles Darwin's character are related, refers mainly to the nature of scientific work, the notion of truth, the historical, cultural and ethical conditioning of scientific production, the specific epistemological obstacles of the construction of the evolutionary model, and the nature of the science-religion controversy, among other aspects. Finally, and by way of conclusion, we offer some reflections on the contributions of this characterization to think about teaching in teacher training, by implementing, in a critical and integrated way, some central topics of meta-scientific reflection.
