Resumo
The periodical ecclesiastical publications and its vision of Indians as a source for the history of the missions in Upper Black River-Vaupés, 1913-1989. Hist. Soc. [online]. 2015, n.28, pp.17-45. ISSN 0121-8417. https://doi.org/10.15446/hys.n28.47926.
This article offers a panorama of the periodical ecclesiastical publications of importance for the reconstruction of the missions in the frontier of Colombia and Brazil in the 20th Century. Because of their public character, these institutions constitute an important alternative to the ecclesiastic archives often of restricted access. Its contents include the advances of the missionary works, the vision of the religious people about the life manners and the social behavior of the aborigines as well as the obstacles of the missionary work. Themes concerning topics as the communist menace or the advance of liberal ideas are not usually covered in missionary magazines as in other ecclesiastical publications.
