The need to develop production systems oriented to the market requires knowledge on the behavior of product’s prices and on the factors that affect said behavior; ensuring the harmlessness of the production systems and the improved management of the soil’s fertility. What’s more, genotypic and phenotypic characterizations of the cultivars and microorganisms of economic importance are needed in order to find desirable attributes and control methods. In this sense, Corpoica has the pleasure of sharing a new issue of its journal, which includes several articles related to these topics. One of the articles analyzes the price behavior of two varieties in two different locations using two techniques of price analysis. The results show that there is a certain degree of integration between markets at the time of shaping the prices. Another article describes the differences in production and nutritional quality in 12 plantain and banana cultivars of the Colección Colombiana de Musáceas (Colombian Collection of Musaceae - CCM). The results show significant differences in sugar, iron and zinc contents between the evaluated cultivars, which is of utter importance. In the harmlessness topic, two articles are included; these articles deal with the characterization of chemical and physical residues in the effluents of trout farming systems and methods of residue removal of Cypermethrin from cattle sweep tubs. The results from these research are promising in the look for less contaminant and cleaner production systems. In another article, the relations between the chemical properties of soils and productivity and coffee quality are described; from this article’s results a handling for coffee harvesting is proposed. Finally, this issue of the journal includes two articles related to the analysis of the genetic diversity of Azospirillum and several corn materials from the Colombian coast using genotypification and phenotypication tools. The results of these articles can contribute to the improvement of the productivity and the competitiveness of the agricultural sector.
