In this paper we examine some areas of ancient roman thought in which the vir bonus arises as a device (ethical-legal) that regulates human behavior. The archaeological discovery "Triple vessel of Duenos", Cicero's On Duties, Quintilian's Oratory Institutions and some fragments of Justinian's Digest are the main stages of this research.
