GARCIA OTERO, Ruth Cristina. Context of a society in conflict: Panoramic view of structural violence in Colombia. Justicia [online]. 2019, vol.24, n.36, pp.88-101. ISSN 0124-7441.  https://doi.org/10.17081/just.24.36.3524.

Colombia has been immersed in a wave of violence for more than six decades. The actors involved in this irregular situation come from all areas of the country, but the conflict has mainly been polarized by groups of right ideologies and left ideologies groups, which are both formed by a diverse set of illegal armed groups. These groups mix with each other, making their borders barely noticeable, and include groups involved in the illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances, as well as groups performing related activities such as killing, acquiring illicit income, laundering assets, land grabbing, kidnapping, homicide and other heinous acts. The relations of these groups with the economic and political sectors of the country conflict with the legitimacy of institutions of the State. The diversity of armed outlaw groups that were - or are? - in the Colombian territory seem to be rooted in the dawns of the foundation of the state.
