In the 1990's the economic authorities of Colombia, looking for a greater economic growth, carried out a set of reforms to reduce the State's role in the economic activity and to increase competitiveness in the internal market. From a sectoral perspective, the behavior of the Colombian economy before and after reforms is examined in this article, drawing upon empirical evidence and highlighting some common features of the growth history of industrialized countries. In the same way, it is shown that the change of model did not bring about the expected results regarding growth. In addition, the thesis of the deindustrialization and reprimarization of country's productive apparatus it is stated.
