The aim of this article is to analyze the assumptions of the Spanish writer, critic, and essayist Juan Mas y Pi (1878-1916) on the social question of art. To do so, I will use the text "Arte social" published in 1906 in the magazine Germen. Revista popular de sociología directed by Alejandro Sux. I will address what is the origin, essence, and function of art to be useful to the cause of the process of Humanity's improvement towards a future free of any kind of oppression and suffering.
