Abstract

MARQUEZ RAMIREZ, Mónica. We are in Transition. The Discovery of Seeing, Feeling and Listening to Myself in the Process of Bringing us Closer to the Other. Trab. soc. [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.2, pp.197-218.  Epub July 02, 2024. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v25n2.107691.

The purpose of my research while studying for a master's degree in Anthropology at the National University of Colombia, was to get closer to the experiences of male ex-combatants that were far from the memory of the execution of violence and could show me other dimensions of life under arms. The process required me to look inward and acknowledge my biases and the ways they influenced how I was approaching them. Thus, in this article I share reflections and findings on the life of those who fought, in relation to me and the investigative practice; I leave opened questions and proposed methodological possibilities. It is not a decisive text on how to work with those who fought, but rather on what could be the first steps to take when approaching their experiences, therefore I give an account of the configuration of fictionalized encounters as a methodological strategy.

Keywords : Armed conflict; emotions; fictionalized encounters; reflexivity; transition.
